Myall Lakes 31 August 2020 We’re travelling up the New South Wales coast and stopped for a few nights at Myall Lakes National Park. I saw lots of wildlife! A goanna! Specifically, it’s a lace monitor. I gather they’re pretty common around here but it’s the first time I’ve seen one in the wild and I was pretty excited about it. They have really long tails! I reckon this goanna was about 1.5 metres long. Myall Lake is fringed by beautiful broad-leaved paperbark trees. A little pied cormorant having a stretch. A cool twisty paperbark! A dingo. There were lots of these about, generally trying to steal our food. Australian pelicans cleaning themselves. How ridiculous/amazing are their beaks?!
